Cookie and Tracking Policy
yesid.dev is the portfolio and contact site of Yesid Fernando Otalora, a freelance digital-infrastructure consultant in Quebec, Canada. This page explains what the site stores in your browser, what it does not, and how your analytics choice works. Last updated: 2026-07-12.
The short version#
- This site sets no tracking cookies. None.
- There is no advertising technology, no cross-site tracking, and no profiling.
- Plausible analytics is off by default and runs only after you allow it.
What the site actually stores#
The site keeps a few functional preferences in your browser's localStorage: your theme (light or dark), your language, the state of collapsed sections, and an unsent draft of the contact form so you do not lose it if you navigate away. This information stays on your device and is never transmitted to me or to anyone else; only your own browser uses it, locally, to restore your preferences. Clearing your browser data removes it completely.
Analytics#
I use Plausible Analytics Cloud, operated by Plausible Insights OÜ in Estonia, to measure page paths, referral and campaign sources, browser, operating-system and device categories, approximate country, region and city, and four conversion events: a successful contact-form submission, a click to book a call, a click on a direct contact channel, and a click to inspect a project's live site or public source repository. I do not attach contact-form fields, destination URLs, link labels, or custom properties to those events. Plausible sets no cookies, uses no browser storage, does no cross-site tracking and creates no persistent identifier. Each request contains an IP address and User-Agent; Plausible combines them with a value that changes daily to count visitors for that day, then discards the raw values. Visitor data is processed and stored in the European Union. I see site-usage reports, not named people. Plausible is off until you allow it.
Your analytics choice#
Section 8.1 of Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector addresses technologies with functions that can identify, locate or profile a person. Plausible derives a visitor count that changes daily and an approximate country, region and city. I therefore keep those functions off by default. No Plausible request is sent until you choose Allow analytics, and you can reopen Analytics preferences from the footer at any time.
I use the same explicit choice for every visitor instead of relying on implied consent.
If this changes#
If I add another technology that identifies, locates or profiles visitors, I will explain it here and keep it off until the required choice is available. No silent changes.
